Ok, how about this as a thought.... Away from the newspapers and local cash cows (boosters), i belive it has been documented that Phil and Tom were pretty good friends... "Lets not forget the first head coach to be interviewed by the press when tom passed". Also when brad was a senior dose anyone remember who the OC was then? How about Nick Jr. Coach Colobro's son, another long time friend of Phil.

This is a great oppertunity for Travis and Powell Valley. The Oc position i think is a pretty nice way to call him a quarterback's coach. Phil will call the plays he always has. Travis will take the first year starting qb under his wing and help with the transition to varsity, seeing that i belive that Pv will not be in the spread this year. Travis being one of the best quarterbacks in the region when he played for appy he will be a huge help. (if im not mistaken he helped Brad Robbins the summer of his senior year).

PV will get a great former qb and a very young coach with a world of potentional. Travis will get a job with a coach that has a good offensive football mind and the oppertunity to learn. Everybody win's here and if you are from Appy of Pv we should all be excited to see this transition and the possiblity of dominance in the state again. Just a thought.

More shocked about the comment about Tom Turner and Phil Robbins being such great friends than about Travis taking the PV job. Tom Turner and Phil Robbins never seemed to be friends or very close. Maybe I am wrong, but I don't think so. Totally different people with different beliefs on how to run a program and especially on how to treat their players. Tom Turner cared about his players even after they left the program. Phil Robbins only cares about what a player and do for him and after that he forgets them. Travis will get to look at a totally different way of doing things in the pv program than what he was raised in. It will be interesting to see what he thinks about the pv program after one year. Maybe he will stay at pv long enough to coach other sports and make an impact on the kids, but his track record does not indicate that. He never stays too long at one place.
